The result of the boom/bust in 2000-2003 seems to have led to an upside down market where the old pre-bust adages have less gravitas. I think the go away in may thing will be one of those. It would have happened that way if the market rallied in the first quarter based on these great earning. Instead it was sell the news, sell the news and worry about inflation and rates. Now that we have a clear signal that disinflation is dead its sell the news, sell the news. This will turn around unless the market actually believes that there will be a recession in 05 caused by an over restrictive fed. I think the fed will live with a bit more inflation than usual and not kill the goose in its infancy. Mike
