Civilian contractors pay price in Iraq

Steven Schooner, a government procurement specialist from George Washington University, said he was dismayed by the failure to officially acknowledge the deaths of contractors.

"It's a little bit ugly if our elected politicians have decided that the country's tolerance can be sustained longer by serving up contractors to take bullets," said Schooner.

Bob Edwards interviewed an injured Halliburton truck driver who made it back home. His truck was hit and when he jumped out a group of Iraqis attacked him with sticks. One clubbed him in the head and knocked him down. He got up and was lucky enough that another truck in the convoy stopped long enough for him to jump on.

His pay was $80,000 per year.

They are going to have to call up more National Guard Transport companies. Their trucks are just as vulnerable but they can't refuse to drive.
