Miercom Rates Interactive Intelligence IP PBX Number One in Performance

INDIANAPOLIS, Apr 14, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Independent
test lab, Miercom, rated Interactive Intelligence Inc.'s (Nasdaq: ININ) IP PBX
product, Enterprise Interaction Center(R) (EIC), number one in performance
following an on-site review in February.

The review, which was designed to test IP PBXs capable of supporting up to 100
stations, included products from Avaya, EADS, Nortel, Siemens, Swyx and Vertical
Networks.

The performance results were part of multiple criteria used to evaluate the
products. Miercom's performance measures included resiliency, redundancy, call
completion, call quality, quality of service, and first level vulnerability
analysis.

"In previous IP PBX reviews we found that all the systems were vulnerable in
some way to DoS attacks," said Miercom lab testing manager, Diane Poletti-
Metzel. "However, in this test they had no effect on the Interactive
Intelligence server. In addition, EIC showed outstanding softphone voice
quality."

Miercom tested the latest release of EIC, version 2.3, which the company
introduced in December 2003 on a limited basis. The version tested included SIP
support, and optional Intel NetStructure Host Media Processing software that
eliminates the need for voice processing boards.

According to Miercom, Interactive Intelligence was only one of two participating
vendors to support SIP. Because of its SIP-based architecture and all-software
option using HMP, Interactive Intelligence also received high marks in Miercom's
architecture section.

"EIC received a high score in our architecture review due to its flexibility,"
Poletti-Metzel said. "Because it's a software-based product, it can run on a
variety of servers, and can interoperate with third-party proxy servers and a
variety of phones, including any third-party SIP device."

"Since first offering built-in SIP support back in May 2002, our customers have
benefited from the flexibility and interoperability that IP telephony always
promised, but that vendors using the older H.323 standard couldn't deliver,"
said Interactive Intelligence president and chief executive officer, Dr. Donald
E. Brown. "We believe that our experience deploying SIP, combined with the
reliability, scalability, and ease-of-installation improvements we've included
in the latest version of EIC, give businesses something rare -- a truly proven
and 'future-proofed' IP PBX."

Interactive Intelligence first released EIC in 1997. The product offers built-in
circuit- and IP-based switching with SIP support, an all-software option, and
support of analog and digital phones. Features include an installation Wizard,
auto-attendant, voice mail, desktop softphone with call control and presence
management, unified messaging, find-me/follow-me, conferencing, workgroup
routing, basic screen-pop, supervisory monitoring, Web chat and callback, fax
services, reporting, hot-desking, and remote support.

EIC can accommodate small business operations, and sites with up to several
thousand employees depending on configuration. For more information about EIC,
