Why dont these Shias rise up and defend us and their country against the thugs and terrorists Who do you think Al-Sadr and his followers who have recently taken up arms against the occupation forces are? Sunnis? And do you really think Al-Sadr himself is a Saddam die-hard? [Hint: Saddam had his father killed] Everyone knows I support this excursion into Iraq and believe the goal is a worthy one, but I really do wonder why we are not getting FANATICAL type help from the Iraqi's. If there seems to be a contradiction in what you think you know, check your premises.... Like this assumption of yours that Iraqis actually WANT you there - Consider the possibility that Iraqis don't like being under occupation. That would be one reason why you are not seeing "fanatical type help" from them, and it could even explain why they have taken up arms against your military.
