Could it be that in a few years we will change our opinions on what is going on in Iraq. During the Reagan years, I thought it was criminal that he was increasing the deficit at such an alarming rate. As it turns out, he was spending the Soviet Union into bankruptcy. Cold war won without a drop of blood spilled to the Soviets. In hindsight, perhaps I was wrong and maybe the spending rampage was not such a bad move.

It's possible that we may never know what this current and possible "quagmire" might be sparing us in the decades ahead. I guess history will ultimately figure that out. Having said that, it's always so painful to endure the sacrifice and torment for results that may not be evident for years.

Just a thought ...
