Sorry to hear about your wife losing her job..

But we've all been through these things (myself more than once due to restructurings and lay-offs)..

Believe it or not, I just quit a decent job in order to take a far more lucrative job in the "sandbox".. Likely going to be dangerous, but the future opportunities could likely be tremendous with this kind of experience.

So I understand the frustration that can be immediately apparent. But with some patience, perseverence, and a bit of luck, she just might discover this was what she needed in order to find a better opportunity..

As a wise sage once told me, the first day of your job should be the first you're looking for your next...

Btw, there have been some excellent responses posted related to your COBRA benefits. The company has to permit her to purchase her health benefits at a comparable rate to what they paid. I believe 6 months is the general benefit allowance.
