If memory serves, the DoJ was instrumental in browbeating the Immigration Dept. into letting large numbers of immigrants through in the runup to the 96 election. Normal procedures were discarded or bypassed in the hope of getting a million or so more Democrat votes. I wonder what role Gorelick played in that...
