The media is but a reflection of the people served by the media. The people of the US do not demand information, because they don't really want information. Most people want no more than a sound bite filtered through some polarized commentator who will put a spin on the sound bite that will make them feel warm and cozy about the position they already hold based on their beliefs (and not their reason, because they don't use that).

Left and right are guilty of this, and I am cheered that college students no longer want to be part of either party. 62% see themselves as centrists (hooray- they are perhaps looking at both sides, and striking a reasonable balance). If the trend holds, it will be a very positive voting block to emerge- imo. Less dogma, more thinkma.
