I grew up in Central America, and my Dad did his annual "active duty" at Quarry Heights (..similar to Cheyenne Mountain in CO..) every year - until he finally retired from the Reserves. Most people here in the USA don't have a bloody clue what it's like to live abroad. And, when you see US military bases and their effects outside the country it's easy to understand how most of the world depends on the USA for stability and peace.

The screaming raghead wacko's may not like us, but when you start to close a base the "..silent majority.." comes out of the woodwork begging us not to leave.

"..Power for Peace.." are some of the truest words ever coined, and occasssionally you have to use the big stick - when the ambient noise level gets too high. When everything is going to hell in a handsack, it means a lot to see an armed infantry Brigade with Hummers, APCs, a few Bradley's, and some fst-&-ugly Abrahms tanks show up...!!!

Beats the hell out of The (W)itch, Joe Biden, or Janet 'the hag' Reno showing up - waving a limp-wienie writ, court order or two-days-too-late search warrant - and trying to "..whine.." the enemy to death.

John :-)
