2 1/2 yrs ago, I had heard mercedes had started having some quality issues, but mrs. ork fell in love with an 01 CLK 430. I figured I had had zero problems with my 330 xi and boxster, the german's build great cars, how bad can it be? shortly after we bought it, the transmission wouldn't go above third gear. we had it fixed. shortly after that the gas gauge died, then the sear memory did too. then there were two more transmission problems and several small things which I don't remember. in the two years I owned the POS it was in the shop 10 times.

I'm a big believer in keeping my cars a long time. however, even though the benz was only two+ years old and under warranty for another two years, I dumped it. it was a true POS.

despite my warnings, two friends just ordered mercedes. we'll see how they do.
