Anybody think it's a bad thing to study your ancestry? Anybody think it's irrelevant to modern life?

Not at all!~ Every one of us has a life, and what we do with it is our own doing. What those who went before us did as well. To me, looking for my ancestors does several things....makes me feel much closer to them, and their times, their location, their problems (numbers of children; did they all live to adulthood; what were their homes like; did they move from one area to another or stay in the same location all their life?; why did they move if they did?; etc. What did they do in their lifetime? What did they do to make a living?

Do we have letters and/or photos of any of our family members? Do we see any similar characteristics in appearance? Do we have letters from others in the family that might provide any details?
