Re: American troops can't get decent ongoing medical care stateside and they can't get armored Humvees, ammo or body armor in Iraq.

The body armor is cheap in the thieves' market in Sadr City, Baghdad. A $1,500 version goes for just $100 there.

Re: Is war profiteering treason? Perhaps it should be.

Just as the saying goes, "what was a war crime in 1945 is U.S. foreign policy in 2004", profiteering used to severely punished.

In fact, during World War II, George Bush's grandfather had well over $1 Million of his assets confiscated due to the Trading with the Enemy Act of 1942.

Senator Harry Truman made such a reputation for himself chasing down and prosecuting war profiteers that he became a tremendously popular figure in the Democratic Party and for this reason was asked to replace John Nance Garner as Franklin Roosevelt's running mate in 1944.

Things have sure changed in America. We're a lot richer. And infinitely more corrupt at the top.
