As long as it does not turn out to be a "Dukakis" type scenario, then I would say Bush is gone.

Here is why I think Iraq is Bush's Waterloo. If things don't go well in Iraq and he has to send more troops in then people will see increased American involvement as a negative. They will view this as a "quagmire". If there a UN brokered (Brahimi) transfer of power and it goes well, then people will wonder if Bush should have involved the UN all along and could have saved a lot of lives, hostage taking etc. etc. So the coming months will prove to be interesting.

Another thing lurking on the horizon, is what Bush did before 9/11 and what he did after 9/11. What he did before 9/11 is what Dick Clarke's has said and the Commission report will tell, what he did after 9/11 is what Bob Woodward's book will tell. So there is a lot that will happen between today and November that holds a potential for Bush to skip further in the polls.
