i recently bought another place and i'm happy to report that i can throw the lawn mower away.

i have over 100 redwood trees on my property, forming one heck of a canopy overhead.

while some folks might not like the relative darkness of intermittent-at-best sunlight filtering its way into their property, i am elated each day by the softness and beauty of a redwood needle-carpeted forest floor underfoot.

nary a blade of grass grows (due to the aforementioned redwood canopy and the placement by the previous owner of lots of weedmat), and i am quite pleased in knowing that i will never have to push another lawnmower.

i am one of those individuals who grew to *hate* the smell of new-mown grass, i suppose because i associated it with work.

now i hear and feel twigs snapping, and experience the scent of conifers as i walk about the property, surrounded by silent giants, the maddening tribulations of the combustion engine only a dim memory.
