In a ferromagnet, all the spins are aligned in the same direction so the attraction power is considerable. If you melt the magnet so the spins are randomly aligned then there is no more palpable magnetism. So it is in politics. There are 3 million Zionists in the US, all of whom, by definition of Zionism, believe the same thing and push all US governments in the same direction. In addition you have to look at the National Rifle Association. They all also point in the same direction. They are trigger happy and love guns and war and are eager to fight anywhere, for the glory of the Stars and Stripes or whatever. This coherent group also wants to conquer the middle East. They are also 3 million strong. It is hard for politicians to oppose two such united forces. In addition there are the fundamentalist Christians who do not have NRA membership. Throw in the oil companies and you have power. Unfortunately. Without such formidable allies Zionism could be dismissed for what it is, essentially belligerent religious fantasy. Unlike the Koran which has 57 flavours of interpretation, the Old Testament is quite explicit, a certain area of land at the Eastern Mediterranean belongs to the Jews and only to them and their loving God will help them take it and keep it.
