Florida's Bush Backs Licenses for Illegal Immigrants All Things Considered audio (My edit: Have to go to the site to listen. We've heard much of the same arguments (+/-) with the California proposals...) April 16, 2004 Florida Gov. Jeb Bush reverses an earlier position and now backs a proposal to allow illegal immigrants to get legal driver's licenses or identification cards. The issue is especially sensitive, because 12 of the 19 hijackers involved in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks held Florida licenses or ID cards. NPR's Phillip Davis reports. npr.org steve
