laz'unfaire-
don't go OOFie on us. relax. life is too short for us to have to watch you get OC and start researching and posting links to chit we've already read.
fyi- i read what you said about us being old buds and i concur.
(the DEVIL made me say that. <g>)
<chews on his columbo stogie, scratches his 4head with a hand from over the top of his head and turns to ask one more question>
ooh, oooh, just one more question...
when you wrote, "They may just decide to take a flyer on their own and get you into real trouble. Say, saying "Mr. President, if you really are considering invading Kuwait, by God, we'll bring down the wrath of God on your palaces, and on your country, and you'll all be destroyed." can get a war started rather quickly. Now in this case the standard foreign policy had the same effect, but in general it will not and is specifically designed not to create dangerous situations you can't back out of.
didn't you see the irony and humor in the two bolded portions?
i did.
it's easy to imagine what a diplomat should say in that situation and there's NO WAY i could ever imagine a real ambassador saying the sentence that you made up. i could see this maybe, "You know, Honorable President Hussein, the international community may not choose to look the other way if you decide to move in on Kuwait."
but i appreciate your intelligent humor and irony and that's why i threw you the straight line question... "who told you to say that?"
...and as to poet's warning about my intellect... disregard it. her middle-aged hormones are raging and she's probably just making a cyber-play for my affections. <g>
you're right, i'm as dumb as a big stick. walk softly, and carry me... please.
<he's really pushing his trust in readers to understand his twisted sense of humor>
(i'm just kidding, poet - thank yew fer yer support) :-)
ahh... but i digress... you and i are taking up way too much space on this thread with humor and sparring when we could be reading the articles and comments that stockman scott and lurqer are sharing here every day. they're much more useful than what we're doing here.
i love those dudes!
