My opinion too. I have been against this war, but after it started I have been trying to see it with rose colored glasses at every turn, in spite of the monumental incompetence of the post-war administration, which I and many others have pointed out again and again.

My hopes were raised after the fall off in casualties during the summer to be lowered again by the bombings in November, to be raised again by the capture of Saddam, and now we are facing the worst possible outcome: a majority of Iraqis despise us and we are facing a possible general insurgency. It's not out of the question that after thousands of dead and hundreds of billions of dollars, post-Saddam Iraq will end up worse off than before, the terrorists greatly strengthened, and the US isolated in the world.

The various books coming out lately about the workings of the Bush administration show how damaging rigid ideology mixed with laziness and incompetence can be.
