bin Laden is very efficient. He probably used a few million dollars to train, support and ready the 19 hijackers. Those attacks have caused billions of dollars in damage alone, and 3,000 innocents and 700 troops dead.

I recall reading somewhere that the entire 9-11 operation cost Al Queda something on the order of $300,000. Is my recollection correct?

If so, the economic damage caused, in terms of dislocation of the markets due to the event, governmental response, and now Iraq, is immense. I have to believe this is what he had in mind when he planned 9-11. Taking 3,000 American lives was likely just a subsidiary benefit in his mind.
