Byzantine history ended in 1453 when the Muslims completed their conquest. BTW, when is the Muslim world going to apologize to Christians for that atrocity?

Also, the Byzantines never heard the word Byzantine. They called themselves Romani or Romans - which in fact they were in a direct line, beginning way before Mohammed was born.

The Islamic Empire did not begin to fall apart until the 19th century during the time of the Byzantines.
