The few that I see use calcium chloride are folks that spread it at the entrances/sidewalks to businesses. They they have to save floors and rugs and still make sure people don't fall on there butt.

Up north like in Maine is 100% worse. In bigger towns like Lewiston they spread pure rock salt down hours before the storm starts to get a jump on it. Makes the roads look like they have a layer of frost on them. The older 70/80 cars and trucks seemed liked they wood rust out in less than two years.
