(COMTEX) B: Emergency Filtration Products Invited to Apply for Navy-Funded Technology Transfer Project EFP to Build Air Filter P B: Emergency Filtration Products Invited to Apply for Navy-Funded Technology Tra sfer Project EFP to Build Air Filter Prototypes for Multiple Potential Military nd Homeland Security Uses HENDERSON, Nev., Apr 19, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Emergency Filtration Products Inc. (EFP) (OTCBB: EMFP) announced that it has been invited to apply for participation in a Navy-funded Technology Transfer project (Center of the Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT)) and the Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization (OTTC) which encompasses filter technology products. If selected and approved, EFP will build two filter product prototypes, both of which will employ the company's patented 2H filter technology. One of the prototypes will be built with the additional protection offered by the company's proprietary nanotechnology process in which the filter prototype will be treated with a coating of nano particles. The prototypes, which are expected to take approximately one month to build, are designed for a large number of potential applications, including, but not limited to: biohazard masks, transportation (aircraft, tanks, armored personnel carriers) and buildings (military, industrial, office and residential). The prototypes will then be tested over a period that is expected to take one month or less. Assuming the successful completion of prototype development and testing, the filter products would then be produced by a U.S. Navy-approved manufacturer. About CCAT The CCAT -- supported by Congress and funded by the Department of Defense -- is a public-private collaborative partnership between academia, industry, and government. Partners include San Diego State University (SDSU), Foundation and Entrepreneurial Management Center, the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Jacobs School and UCSD CONNECT, and Lockheed Martin ORINCON Technologies Inc. with support from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego. The consortium-style CCAT intends to bridge the gap that exists between the generators of technology, the Department of Defense and the commercial marketplace. Web site: www.ccatsandiego.org About OTTC California State University San Bernardino's Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization results from a public-private collaborative partnership of academia, industry, and government. Its purpose is to assist in the movement of technology from laboratory to commercial or military use. In order to accelerate this transition, OTTC provides assistance in marketing assessments, business plan development, product development, testing and evaluation, as well as financial assistance. It provides the researcher with independent validation of the technology and the market potential for the product. These services and resulting reports help support the commercialization of the potential products. Web site: www.ottc.csub.edu About Emergency Filtration Products Inc. EFP is an air filtration products manufacturer whose technology provides filtration efficiencies of "greater than 99.99% at a particle size of 0.027 microns." Its initial products were developed for the medical market: the Vapor Isolation Valve(TM); RespAide -- a CPR mask used for resuscitation of respiratory/cardiac arrest cases; an A.E.D. prep kit; and the 2H Breathing Circuit Filter. Each has received FDA approval. EFP's 2H NanoMask with 27 nanometers filtration capability relies on the company's core 2H Technology(TM) filtration system, which utilizes a combination of hydrophobic and hydrophilic filters able to capture and isolate bacterial and viral microorganisms with efficiencies of 99.99%. The environmental mask utilizes the company's patented 2H Technology(TM) and nanotechnology to enhance the capture-and-isolation characteristics of the filter media. In addition to filtration products, the company also supplies Superstat, a modified hemostatic collagen, to the medical market and U.S. military for extreme wound care.
