hmmm... interesting. I guess it all depends on what you consider as being long time. If by next February/March time frame, then yes it is a long time, however for many it is a very short period of time. Your first set of large Java applications will not come from companies such as Microsoft, but rather from those dealing with database vendors and those developing database applications. Companies such as Informix, Oracle and even Sybase will ship their first line of thin client, multi tier server centric application development tools products by next December and I would think it would take another 3 to 4 months for the buyers of such tools to develop their large database applications for the desktop market. These tools are all based on Sun's Java standards and therefore developers using these tools to develop their Java applications will end up having 100% identical code whether it is on your Sparc or your PC!

Anyway, Jon, congratulation to you for finally deciding to buy SUNW at $47+. If I remember correctly from your past comments (about 3 months ago) you were somewhat of not believing in Sun's technology and its capability to change the computing model. Dont know if you bought SUNW based on your change of mind or some other reason, but glad to see you making some money.
