Hi all; Vietnam vs. Iraq, the numbers so far.

1964: 137 2003: 529
1965: 1,369 2004: ~1,500
1966: 5,008 2005:
1967: 9,378 2006:
1968: 14,592 2007:

Many of the deaths after the initial stages of the Vietnam War where caused by NVA regulars. You had organized units with heavy weapons. All through the war the North Vietnamese had a real army to fight with in addition to guerilla units. Not only that but we never threatened the base of this army. Unless you are arguing that Iran or Syria is going to make a massive direct military intervention there is little reason to think there be anything remotely similar to the NVA involved in the conflict in Iraq.

Do you seriously think there will be about 30,000 American deaths in Iraq from 2005 to 2007? If not what's the point of your chart?
