"Is that "smart ass," or are you with the "cut and run" crowd? "

More towards the "Smart Ass".

We've got cuts on us and wounds on them too deep to run away now. But as some here imply, Bush may have gotten our whole country into one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't paradoxes. And I'm talking the damnable fires of hell here brother, not some second guessing commentary from a web blog. From my readings, it seems from the beginning that Rumsfeld was only willing to commit the numbers of troops he thought he could afford...instead of the number his commanders' thought they needed. That's because most of America was led to believe that most of our contribution to the war effort (just like that of Bush's own daughters), was to be spent shopping - not shooting. Let's say instead that Bush and all his chicken hawks had called for an enlistment of a million man army before they started Bush's self titled "crusade". Well, just like appropriations from Congress, he might have gotten it for Afghanistan but not for Iraq.

The Bush doctrine has a basic flaw - it contradicts the traditional will of the American people. Even advocates of the Old Testament style of revenge believe in only one eye for an eye...not a baker's dozen. And regardless of modern weaponry, one thing that hasn't changed since the days of Pyrrhus is that morale remains the key to a prolonged struggle. Based on Bush’s progress, it may still take another generation before we reach the level of hatred required to fight the type of war he suggests God has in store for us. Or the second preventable Pearl Harbor of this century in only its first five years.

If Iraq continues to get out of control and Bush cannot convince the American people that we should sacrifice more of our sons, daughters, mothers and fathers as part of the "plan", we will find ourselves in yet another tragic war just for the pundits to post-mortem. I'm sure that some of my fellow threadheads will continue to point the finger at the press, the liberals or even the generation with the largest credit card balances, (for that is what FOX will tell them to do). But, from the 100 year view, the guy at the top will eventually get the blame for taking us into water too deep. And despite what they teach at Bob Jones, when it comes to water, miracles and leadership: He ain't no Moses.
