Samsung Selects Genesis Microchip's LCD TV Controller for New 15-inch, 17-inch and 20-inch LCD TVs

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 2004-- Genesis® Microchip Inc. (Nasdaq:GNSS - News), a world leader in the development of image processing technologies for LCD TVs and other consumer display products, today announced that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a global leader in the consumer electronics industry and world's largest provider of display panels, selected Genesis Microchip's gm2221 display controller for its new 15-inch, 17-inch and 20-inch LCD TVs. Models LTP1545, LTP1745 and LTP2045 are scheduled to be available worldwide by the end of this month.

The gm2221 image processor is a highly integrated, all-in-one device suitable for LCD TV applications. This controller features patented advanced image processing technology, a proven integrated ADC/PLL and a CCIR656 video input port to deliver a high-quality, reliable LCD TV solution. The gm2221 also features Adaptive Color and Contrast(TM) (ACC) and Active Color Management(TM) (ACM-II) to boost contrast levels and enhance the colors of video content for LCD displays.
