Love your enemy ...as long as they aren't living right next door to you ...and if they were--->
then it was your divine duty to kill them all!

(where have we heard of this before ?)

If they were living within the borders of the "holy promised Land " , then you were permitted to annilhilate every trace of them right down to and including the livestock , and also where God is fighting on your side . This is where the original idea of "Jhiad" comes from the Hebrew ...or the word in Hebrew for the campaigns was ---> "Hareme" or holy war. God was seen right down there in the trenches hacking and hewing too.

Deut 9:4-6: "When the Lord , your God drives out your enemy before you , do not say to yourself ; "the Lord has given me this inheritance because of my righteousness " . It is rather on account of the wickedness of these nations ...and to fulfill the promise he made to our ancestors Abraham , Isaac and Jacob . It is not for your righteousness....for you are a stiff necked people .

God allows Joshua to command the sun and moon to stop dead in their tracks , so as to allow enough time to finish off routing the coalition of Cannanite Kings in one last great battle . Some 3000 yrs before Copernicus....some very righteous self-fuliling prophecy of genocide going on here<g>

Joshua 10:14

Stiff~necks rule !

(well until the Babylonians , Assyrians, Alexander and the Romans came)
