Note that the Fed boss didn’t directly say rates will rise. Instead, he noted how the bankers will deal with rising rates and the cause of higher rates: a stronger economy. In fact, Greenspan said pricing power is being restored to companies, and threats of deflation “are no longer a concern".

If the economy is so strong, why have the markets floundered since the first of the year? Why is gold so high? Why are the only stocks doing well in my portfolio defense and energy related? How can the economy continue expand with oil over $36 per barrel and NG over $5 and not experience significant inflation?
