Its not JUST the oil for food scandal that makes them irrelevant. It's also the financially driven votes, their lackluster history at solving issues etc. etc. What you say is true - we need to put some money (and teeth) into the UN but that still means countries are going to have to put global interests ahead of their own. Thats a pretty tall order. I'm not sure we can do that and I KNOW that France, Russia and Germany did not as it applied to Iraq.
