To All,

Interesting problem. Running WIN2000 Pro with IE 6 with all critical patches applied. Being the paranoid that I am... I also am running Norton Antivirus 2004 Professional, the latest version of ZoneAlarm Pro, Spybot-Search & Destroy, AdAware (free version... scans only), BO Cleaner (anti-Trojan), Trojan Hunter, Spyware Blaster, and Spyware Guard. Also running MailWasher Pro to help keep down spam, JV16 Power Tools, and PurgeIE Pro (to clear cache, cookies, etc. all with one click). All are kept updated daily. Norton AntiVirus 2004 Pro options for e-mail are set to scan incoming and outgoing e-mail including worms, etc.. I noticed that the pop-up window when sending e-mail saying Norton was scanning the outgoing e-mail very, very rarely popped-up (although it does perhaps once every few weeks). I am obviously concerned that the outgoing e-mail is not being scanned (although the Norton icon in the lower right saying "Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect Enabled" is right where it's supposed to be). I had ZoneAlarm Pro set to also scan e-mail and thought perhaps it was interfering with Norton so I disabled all the ZoneAlarm Pro e-mail protection (unchecked it and rebooted)and also cleaned the registry entries afterwards with the Regcleaner part of JV16 Powertools... but still no luck. It seems ZoneAlarm Pro e-mail protection should work with Norton AntiVirus 2004. The Norton AntiVirus scanning box doesn't pop-up when sending an e-mail and now I'm concerned that perhaps my outgoing mail is not being scanned at all. I'm even wondering if my incoming mail is being scanned. Anyone have any ideas? I am really worried and concerned as I often communicate with other doctors and have to maintain patient confidentiality... morally and legally. Thanks in advance for any input.

Marty
