Could you explain the logic of massive bombs on one's own people?

Is it to show that the Americans can't provide security?

As it killed scores of innocent children, wouldn't that parents be turned off and fight those who committed this heinous act? Or is it relatively easy just to blame the Ametricans?

I wonder how many Iraqis would want the US to leave tomorrow and what the result would be.
