For many years the US and other countries paid top dollar for ME oil and would have continued to do so and were quite happy to do so. Radical islam interfered with this trade and was using oil profits to buy weapons and spread their brand of islam hate throughout the world. IMO this is the problem. And I don't think that the USA will ever take over Saudi arabia,or Iraq.

And I think Canada may have the largest oil reserve....harder to get at but larger.
