Hawk, how do you miss the fact that the religious fanatics in the mosques do not give a damn about Israel's borders?

And do you miss the fact that the only reason fanatics like this get an audience is because their secular leaders, and every other political and economic process, continues to fail them?

You aren't going to be able to encourage moderation amongst an already poisoned Palestinian population, if you start laying out ultimatums that BLATANTLY annex territory that offers NO SECURITY advantage to Israel and can EASILY be attacked as a "land grab" by the Jews.

I know the Muslims in the region are screwed up mentally.. But you don't spray jet fuel on a house fire.

And annexing NON-STRATEGIC settlements that are NOT even next to the pre-1967 borders CANNOT BE CONSTRUED AS ANYTHING BUT A LAND-GRAB.

Sharon can't reasonably argue they enhance Israel's security. And they certainly make their security situation even more precarious since they will be required to defend them, despite their being effectively surrounded by a hostile population.

My objective is to NOT do something that further radicalizes the youth of the region, without offering something far more fair to replace their current corrupt systems. The US role in the region is to fight the trend to Islamic militancy, not further its recruiting efforts..

The US has an obligation to offer an alternative and viable economic and political future to a region where no one has given a sh*t in previous decades. It's imperative that the US create some semblance of trust, by its actions against corruption and militancy.

Our job is NOT to "bless" Israeli land-grabs that actually decrease its security.
