You seem to have a short memory.

1) I'd be the last one to say that we could have prevented 911. As a matter of fact another one will happen sooner or later if we continue to pursue our present policies of encouraging dictators when it suits us and repression when it suits us while mouthing "democracy" where there will be none, only puppets who suit us.

2) The proper way to prevent terrorism is to make sure there is no breeding ground for terrorists. Our policies in the Middle East have always been tactical rather than strategic. We have made zillions of enemies and and helped the terrorist cause by suppressing democracies like Mossedeq in Iran while supporting dictators like the Shah. Saddam, or Al Quieda, or the Saudi's.

My arguments are strategic not tactical therefore you may not understand them. They are harder to implement and take patience which you do not seem to have. You must remember the past in order to understand why Bush's knee jerk reactions are counter productive.

Your tactical thinking along with those of the Bush Admin and many other admins have gotten us into this mess. This situation did not just spring out of the earth any more than Hitler's rise to power sprang out of the earth.
