One thing to watch with compost is your soil ph. It can get on the acid side but a little lime will take care of that.

I wouldn't use fresh manure close to the tomatoes, grow lots of vines and little fruit, too much nitrogen. Composted cow manure would be ok though. Now corn loves nitrogen. That's the fertilizer that's jumped this year.
