Don't try to spin the Vietnam War into something normal, contemporary or politically correct. In 1971 that war was out of control madness and this country was torn in two. In retrospect, the war and the way it was waged were wrong, immoral, dishonest and very harmful to our country. It never should have escalated into a major Cold War conflict. The leaders who sent our boys there deserve a heavy burden of guilt. You can see this in McNamara's "Fog Of War" documentary where he wants to apologize for all the horrors he helped create before he dies.

John Kerry was an important force in terms of ending the war. You have no right to criticize him and neither does any one else. He acknowledges his language was a little colorful in his testimnonies, but fundamentally he was right on the money, morally, factually and legally.
