Well, In terms of American lives we've still only lost about 1/5 of what was lost in 45 minutes on 9/11. I'd rather the number be zero but in the final analysis the military is there to protect the US and its citizens. I'd have to say they've done a fine job of doing just that.

In terms of dollars - I'm not sure we can measure the cost benefits of this action as it applies to preventing future events. If you want the least expensive way to accomplish the task I suppose we could call Dow Chemical but somehow I don't think that would be well received. Anything short of that means troops and battle
