Well... I didn't put Woodward's book on my shopping list. I'm afraid we're still too close to 911 to be offered insightful, investigative books on current events... I think the best books on our momentous times (ie the early 2000s) have yet to be written --most likely in 5 or 6 years from now... and by non-US people (Australian D. Yallop? a British journalist?). Here's another book I've contemplated to read:

But then, I was a bit disappointed by Bamford's previous book --his 700-pages monograph on the NSA, 90% of it dealing with the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s! And when I noticed the names of "Al-Qaeda" and "Bin Laden" in the blurb (of A Pretext for War) I dismissed it as yet another hackwork....
