The effect will be to devalue the dollar. The yuan has been pegged to the dollar to allow China to sell cheap products to the U.S.

They must have reached a point where supply shortages and rising material costs are creating too much of a burden on profit. So if they unpeg the yuan goes up and they buy oil cheaper in local currency. In dollars it goes up

Hard to say about Japan. Probably they would have to give up on the dollar intervention which would put further pressure on it.

The Greenspam strategy so far has been to bid the stock market to the moon to keep up with inflation, so maybe it means DOW 15,000 who knows.
