For many of us, it is a difficult task to keep up with American Spirit’s posts each day. As a public service, I have accumulated his 49 posts from Thursday, April 22, 2004. He was definitely on message on Thursday. In his 49 posts, there are 23 references to Cheney-Bush. I realize that this is not the 100% hit rate that he is striving for, but it certainly is impressive. Of course, there is not one URL in any of his posts. No stock tips either. BTW, this is a one-time public service. Too mind numbing.

Kerry has released all papers on war, lobbyists. "Now it's the Bush administration's turn to release the list of oil company lobbyists in (Vice President Dick) Cheney's secret energy task force that rewrote our energy policy," said Kerry spokesman Chad Clanton." C'mon GOP, no hypocrisy here. Let's get to the bottom of these hundreds of billions being gouged out of consumers and tax-payers by the energy pals of Cheney-Bush Bushies don't care about deficit spending even if it bankrupts the nation. Keep in mind what's even worse, the dolar has lost 35% of its value since Cheney-Bush-Delay grabbed power for the Texas oil cartel. Cheney-Bush is the most wrong-headed gang ever in power. C'mon people, let's take our country back. For the people. By the people. Not the big oil companies and fat cats. Nixon was in charge of the Vietnam War in 1968-1972 when the worst atrocities took place. They knew it too. IOn the Watergate tapes Nixon and Colson joke about Kerry being a "baby-killer". Chuckle, chuckle. The same way I'm sure Cheney jokes about gouging us on energy prices and sticking it to the environment. Cheney should release his energy papers NOW. Vietnam Vet warns Right-winger Cowards to Lay Off Kerry: Folks, three things: 1. I don't recall anyone putting himself in for a Purple Heart. Mine arrived via shopping cart while I was bed-bound at a Quang Tre MASH. I didn't know that guys could ask for them and have never heard of of it being done or granted. I did turn down two additional PHs once I got back to the States. (Or maybe they tried to give me the first medal two more times.) That pissed people off; the brass like to give out medals. So on that score alone, Hibbard's got shit in his mouth. He would have been a mighty proud lifer to have one of his boys rack a PH. 2. Concerning fakes: If any fuckhead is stupid enough to claim ownership of a PH that does not belong to him, there's a big cottage industry of really nasty people who will take pleasure in making his life one definitive hell. These would be the folks who actually earned Purple Hearts. Fakers get confronted in public, in front of their families, their co-workers, their Boy Scout troops, wherever it's possible to inflict the most humiliation. There's no sympathy for these people. So if Kerry had worked some kind of game on a Purple Heart, he would have been hideously outed long before this. There's an army of war vets (and the widows of war vets) with nothing better to do than to hunt down fakes and frauds. Kerry would have been toast in the '70s, courtesy of his work with the VVAW. 3. Regardless of politics, those who have PHs tend to be clannish. They're not nearly as exclusive as the CMH [Congressional Medal of Honor] crowd but their ties go well beyond Bill Mauldin's club "of them what's been shot at." (Mauldin was actually sheepish about his PH.) So when a drug addicted coward like Limbaugh, or any of those other vermin, talks trash about a guy's Purple Heart, he's insulting the rest of us. It's like taking on a biker gang that graduated from grenades and machine guns to lawsuits, Web sites and political campaigns. Same attitude, different toys. The assholes who talk trash about Kerry's Purple Hearts are playing a dangerous, self-destructive game.-- Dave Dike We love to compare war records with Cheney + Bush. When I asked Kerry how it was in Nam for him he told me "Like Apocalypse Now" without Marlon Brando." He was dead serious. He wasn't bragging. He didn't even want to talk about it. The rightwing lies about Kerry so much, trying to portray him as some phony hero or boaster. I've been told Kerry hardly spoke of his war experiences for 20 some years, and hardly ever mentioned them to his family. That is typical. Killing people in a nightmarish jungle is not something you brag about, especially if you don't even know if half the people you killed were enemy combatants. A 50 mm machine-gun rips a person apart. It's not a pretty soight. No one celebrates. No one brags unless they're an A-hole. And yet, no matter what, we must hoinor our heros, especially those who volunteer and could have avoided it, like the cowardly hypocrites in the White House. Not a single rightwing leader has ever served in combat yet they have the nerve to attack our war heros over and over again with malicious slander. Not just Kerry but others too. It took us 10+ years or recessions to pay off the Vietnam War. 55,000 Americans died and ten times that amount were wounded or badly damaged. War without dire reason is wrong. Cheney-Bush led us into war with lies and are now profiting from it while the rest of us pay. Bush may very well be insane. And Cheney plain evil. That is the really scary possibility.Bushie Vet Hibbard Lied About Kerry, proof from records: "The campaign did post an evaluation of Kerry by Hibbard. Hibbard's evaluation was brief and incomplete because Hibbard oversaw Kerry's service for only about two weeks. Kerry's duty under Hibbard included "counter infiltration operations against Viet Cong forces. Engaged in combat operations." Hibbard marked a few performance categories, noting that Kerry's initiative, cooperation, and bearing ranked among the top few. But unlike other evaluators who wrote about specific actions by Kerry, Hibbard did not do so, providing this explanation: "The short period LTJG Kerry was attached to Coast Division 14 prevents further evaluation." * This is the same supposed CO who is smearing Kerry now for the Bush campaign and liars like Wstera are re-posting his lies. Amazing. Even the vets Bushies can find to attack Kerry turn out to be phonies. Sometimes ex-alcoholics become spiritually deranged. I know God and God did not tell Bush to invade Iraq. Bushies now busy attacking war heros and defending chickenhearted draft-dodgers. Amazing huh? Me name-calling? Pu-leaze. I have about 20 rightwingers on ignore all of whom name-called me constantly before I zapped them. Guys like Jakestraw would sometimes insult me 40 times in a row. Gloop was spamming me constantly yesterday before I put him on ignore. The problem with Bushie rightwingers is that they refuse to debate rationally. They lose on every issue so then they either name-call or start insulting Clinton or Theresa Heinz, trying to change the subject. Their one claims to fame was that Clinton had sex outside marriage. Big deal. We have much more grave problems we're dealing with now under Bush including the mass looting of our treasury and future financial well-being as a nation. Vietnam should never have been escalated into a full-scale war. When Johnson lied to the American People about the Gulf of Tonkin attack (never happened as the Pentagon papers proved, see how valuable whistle-blowers are?) he sinned the same way Cheney-Bush did lying about WMD's. Nixon continued Johnson's lies and just as we have now, it turned into a terrible costly quagmire with no end or victory in sight. Back when we took over for the French with JFK was prez we were actually winning, using Green Berets and tribal forces guerilla style. We're never going to get a Green Party president in our lifetimes. If you want someone green go with Kerry. He helped start Earth Day and wants to finally challenge the oil cartel lobbyists to get us off and away from dependency on crude. That move alone is worth electing him, for everyone's sake. 10-15 years from now if we don't start this now we're going to be in very deep trouble. Also, oil dependency keeps the Middle East in constant turmoil. How much do we REALLY pay for a gallon of gas when you factor in the defense costs? Not surprising Bushie "vets" are just smear artist hacks. 90% Of US Money Spent in Iraq Being Wasted/Stolen: Tracking the spoils of war Marketplace started a four-part radio series on Tuesday called "Spoils of War", on the rampant corruption that is the rebuilding of Baghdad. From the Web site: "The spoils of war add up to more than capturing expansive palaces and luxury cars. As Marketplace reporters have discovered, not all of the $22 billion being spent to rebuild Iraq is going where it should. Who's watching the money as it streams through Baghdad? Just about no one, and bribes and black marketeering are rampant, witnesses say. A leading anti-corruption group claims as much as 90 percent of U.S. money spent in Iraq is being lost to corruption. From Halliburton subsidiaries charging double for gas, Iraqi officials and Arabic translators unrestrained from pocketing millions of dollars, or even members of the interim governing Council accusing each other of taking tens of millions in bribes. Trouble is, the root of the problem can't be found anywhere near the Green Zone. Try the White House, and Capitol Hill, where oversight of Iraqi construction crews and U.S. contractors like Halliburton has only just begun to be assigned ... more than a year after the war began." -- Geraldine Sealey [08:14 PDT, April 21, 2004] JFK had it right. Use Green Beret Spec Ops to train local tribes to stop the spread of Viet Cong. It was working but it was limited, guerilla style and lots of bang for every buck. Once Johnson moved in the industrial Halliburton-Bectel US military infrastructure (Oliver STone's theory for why JFK was murdered), we became huge targets and sitting ducks. No matter how many men or armaments we threw in there we could never have won. Also, remember the big geo-political problem. We could not invade North Vietnam because then we'd be up against China and the Soviets possibly bringing them together against us. Possible WWIII and global holocaust. The reason we can't win in Iraq the Cheney way is that "Bring 'em on!" Bush has gotten his wish. With open borders to iran and Syria there is a never-ending flow of arms and Jihadists who can mix with the population. Plus like in Nam our partners are corrupt and have no backing from the majority of the people. Cheney's Iraqi dissidents are all opportunistic liars. Since like in Nam we cannot tell friend from foe visually, it's a quagmire in the desert. In the old days, colonial powers could occupy third world countries, but in those days the insurgents didn't have bombs, rockets and mortars. This collosal blunder is Cheney-Bush's fault and theirs alone. The only way to solve is now IMHO is to let the UN in, let the Iraqis vote and withdraw our forces from plain view. Otherwise, this mess will go on and on and on and we simply cannot afford it. Also, the Cheney-Bush people are cheating US taxpayers out of Iraqi oil revenues. They promised oil would pay for their war. They lied big-time. Cheney's Power Company Pals Hold US Hostage: "Proposals to impose mandatory reliability standards on power companies, and fine those that fail to comply, circulated in Washington even before the Aug. 14, 2003, outage, which affected 40 million U.S. residents from Michigan to Massachusetts. The blackout, however, finally prompted the House and Senate to agree last year on a phased-in plan that's a start in the right direction. Since then, however, the electricity package has been held hostage by lawmakers who have tied its final approval to other special-interest provisions in a broader energy bill. Their tactic means Congress can approve the electric-grid reforms only if it also provides businesses lavish breaks the nation can ill-afford at a time of record federal deficits. The conservatively estimated $31 billion in largesse over 10 years includes: • $10.5 billion in tax breaks for the oil and gas industry. • $2.5 billion in write-offs and tax credits for the coal industry. • $5.8 billion for electric utilities. Scores of other financial incentives for the automobile, railroad, ethanol, nuclear-power and alternative-energy industries. Unique protection against lawsuits for refineries that made a gasoline additive now known to have caused serious pollution problems in groundwater. Sensible efforts by some lawmakers to strip out the electricity provisions and pass them separately have gone nowhere. As long as Congress fails to act, power companies know they can't be penalized for making the same mistakes that led to the 2003 blackout." * CORRUPTION INC is in charge of the White House and congress. Instead of drinking, get with johnkerry.com. You'll feel a lot better though I know you'll have to kick the rightwing neocon habit first. Really, these neocons are not even real conservatives. They're simply elitist looters who have hijacked the GOP and the country as a whole. If the GOP had a leader like McCain and Hagel none of this awful stuff would be happening. "Bring it on!" Bush has actually been fanning the flames of war. They like war and high energy prices for obvious reasons, it keeps them rich and in power. Unless the people stand up to them. Including honest fiscal and ethical conservatives Name one thing Bush is doing a "great job" on besides helping out the rich investor class at everyone else's expense, I defy you. Terrrible mismanagement in Iraq, lies about WMD's, shattered alliances, costly overtention of military, huge budget deficits, 2-3 million jobs lost, wages and health care down, outrageous energy prices, increased pollution, spiking college tuitions, most divided nation ever, AWOL on terror before 9-11, AWOL from Guard and lied about it, lied about Medicare costs, lied about war costs, lied about budget deficits and jobs, lied about WMD's, lied about being a compassionate conservative, shafted AIDS funding, shafted vets health benefits, shafted womens healthcare, shafted the environment, Cheney's secret energy papers still a secret, close ties with Enron and all the crooks of the energy crises, and most of the world cannot stand him and doesn't trust him. Cheney-Bush throwing our tax dollars down black holes. Bush is a liar and failure. Bush has no plan for Iraq. Lugar and Biden have been demanding one for weeks. They have nothing, no one to hand over power to, no exit strategy, no UN strategy, no financing strategy. Where are the oil revenues going in Iraq? Not to the Iraqis, not to the US taxpayers, so where? No accounting whatsoever. And now the 87 billion is gone. Where did it all go?Big time thievery going on all over the place. When have you ever listened to John Kerry? If you really listened you'd be backing him because he has better more responsible and honest plans on every single issue. If you're talking about charisma, then who cares? Bush is a frontman smooze artist. So he's likeable, he's an empty suit. Bush has a nerve appearing on Earth Day. Cheney and he have backed every pro-pollution idea out there. Same as Vietnam, the war industry was the only winner. Bushie companies are getting all our money, people. If you want to stop this there is only one way. johnkerry.com Bushies refuse to account the for missing billions. As usual. And the rightwing accused the Clintons of taking a few gifts from the White House when they left. Amazing. When Bushies steal, they think big, tens of billions, hundreds of billions, the entire treasury if we let them. Any college kids who support Bush are nuts. He's cheating them, ignoring them and leaving them with collosal debts to pay off. Church leadership raps Bush on Clean Air Act, including leaders of Bush's own church By Elizabeth M. Gillespie April 22, 2004 | SEATTLE (AP) – -- A national group of Christian leaders is sending a scathing letter to President Bush to coincide with Earth Day, accusing his administration of chipping away at the Clean Air Act. The National Council of Churches argued that planned changes to power plant regulations will allow major polluters to avoid installing pollution-control equipment when they expand their facilities. "In a spirit of shared faith and respect, we feel called to express grave moral concern about your 'Clear Skies' initiative --- which we believe is The Administration's continuous effort to weaken critical environmental standards to protect God's creation," the council wrote in an advance copy of the letter provided to The Associated Press. The New-York based group, which represents 50 million people in 140,000 Protestant, Anglican and Orthodox denominations, said it was sending its two-page letter to the president on Thursday, as people all over the country celebrate Earth Day. It took out a full-page ad in The New York Times, scheduled to run in Thursday's editions, calling on Bush to leave the Clean Air Act's new source review rules in place. The Environmental Protection Agency did not immediately return calls seeking comment Wednesday, but the agency has defended the rule changes proposed in August. EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt has called it "the biggest investment in the air quality improvement in the nation's history." The proposal would cap emissions and allow polluters to buy and sell pollution allowances, but environmental groups complain the new system would be far too lenient. In December a federal appeals court temporarily blocked the new rules from taking effect, agreeing with more than a dozen states and cities that contended the changes could cause irreparable harm to their environments and public health. "The people we talk to, both inside and outside the administration, say ... that these changes will in fact weaken, not strengthen the Clean Air Act," said the Rev. Bob Edgar, a United Methodist minister and the church council's general secretary. "And we will in fact have dirtier air and less compliance," said Edgar, who served six terms in Congress in the 1970s and '80s, representing a suburban Philadelphia district. The council is urging ministers across the country to talk about the problems of air pollution during this week's services. Monica Myers, pastor at Seattle's Northwest Christian Church, a Disciples of Christ congregation, said she doesn't plan to bash Bush in her sermon Sunday. Instead, she said she'll simply remind her congregation that pollution and other environmental problems tend to affect the poor more harshly than those who can afford to live in places far away from polluting factories or toxic waste sites. "I want to emphasize that their faith should direct them as they vote," she said. "Responsible Christians should weigh the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially as they speak of those who are poor and marginalized." The council joined the Evangelical Environmental Network in a "What would Jesus drive?" campaign in 2002, urging the auto industry to adopt stricter emissions standards and calling on SUV owners to switch Don't let them steal the White House again with lies. Only election year does Bush care about environment or for that matter people. Amazing anyone backs this phony. Kerry has solid plans for every issue. You're intentionally not listening or lying. Name any issue and compare plans. Kerry's will be better, smarter, more fiscally conservative, more fair, more common sense, less radical and more moderate. Unless you like extreme rightwing idealogues and dishonest frontmen for major industrial interests, there is nothing for you in any of the Cheney-Bush plans. On Iraq, Cheney-Bush have now fli-flopped, realized Kerry was right and adopted something close to his plan. However, their talk may not be matched by action. It may just be election year BS as they realize their lack of a plan or failed plan will be a liability going forward. Would Christ support polluters and rich industrialists against average families and nature? Not by a long shot. That's why the religious right is so phony. You mean Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter were just in it for the book royalties? Nice spin, Chuck, but Cheney-Bush went to war telling Americans that Saddam was an imminent nuclear and bio-chemical weapons threat to US not just Saddam's own people or neighbors. In the process, they totally lied and have gotten us into the most messy, expensive, no-hope dope quagmire since Vietnam. Regardless of what France and Russia were doing, this is our problem now. Cheney-Bush broke it and now we own it. So quit trying to find a scapegoat in the French. They had nothing to do with this disaster. Also, though Bushies promised us Iraqi oil would pay for the war, we'll never see a single dime. This thing could cost us 100 billion a year for many years, all on the public credit card, plus thousands of American lives and possible more terrorism at our door, not less. Meanwhile Halliburton, Bectel and some Bushie oil company friensd get stinking rich. Bushies have no plan in Iraq and never did. Bush is finally starting to copy Kerry's plan (too little too late as our allies desert us) but otherwise they never thought beyond the invasion, which was the easy part considering how overwhelming our military is. Don't think Americans have not forgotten the thousands of lies Bushies told us about why we had to invade Iraq by ourselves. Iraq is an albatross around our neck now, not some noble crusade. Kerry was a young war hero in 1971 while Bush was going AWOL and getting high every day. Quit attacking our war heros just because they happen to be democrats who tell the truth and expose rightwing lies. Kerry was right about wanting to end the war in Nam, and had a perfect right to protest it and be mad at the Nixonites about the lies they were telling. Anyone supporting that war in 1971 was nuts. It was a huge quagmire. Kerry has already apologized if some of his language was over the top, so give the rightwing BS a rest. Not a single rightwinger leader has ever even been in combat. Cheney + Bush dodged the war. So you guys have no right to be criticizing war heros. Only one way to pacify Iraq, elect John Kerry. Cheney and Bush are the boys who cried wolf over there. No one believes a word they say anymore. They have already failed. Cheney-Bush need to tell us where the Iraqi oil money is going, where the 87 billion went and hand over Cheney's Enron energy papers. Bush lied that he served his country honorably and fulfilled his duty. BS. Cheney lied saying he had more important things to do. Just typical rich kid draft dodgers, nothing more. I wouldn't care except their rightwingers are atacking a true war hero who volunteered despite an ability to get out of the draft, John Kerry. The rightwing attack on Kerry's combat record is one of the most cynical hypocritical political attacks in American history. It represents a new low in history of our democracy. Bushies are spinning full-time to hide from the Iraq issues. They are even stiffing the Senate, refusing to offer Lugar and Biden any plan, any information, any cooperation. By stonewalling the bi-partisan Senate, they are spitting on the rules our founding fathers set up. These Bushies have absolutely no respect. They act as though the US is some kind of third world dictatorship. Your last post was one of the stupidest and most dishonest I have seen lately. Of course, it is typical for Cheney-Bush apologists cooperating in the cover-ups to try and make sleazy personal attacks instead of facing issues or trying to have mature discussions about solutions. Cheney-Bush must admit they have no solution in Iraq. None whatsoever. it's all spin, rhetoric and stalling until after the election. Then maybe they'll give us the bad news and the awful price tag. I suppse the Bushies still believe that liars and cheaters win. My God, I just saw a snippet of Sean Hannity and wanted to throw up at his deliberate dishonesty. Just amazing anyone listens to these rightwingers. They are the vilest liars and propaganda tricksters we have ever seen in our lifetimes. Why do you back them? What possible excuse do you have? The rightwing is calling every war hero a "traitor" nowadays, so long as they are in the democratic party. They also fail to mention that the well-equipped and trained Clinton military invaded Afghanistan and Iraq successfully. It wasn't until Cheney-Bush people took over after the invasion that the gross failures began and our troops started dying at a fast clip. Why any pro-military people back Cheney-Bush is beyond me. Two draft-dodgers who use the military as their pawns and props, cut the medical benefits and leave them like sittingf ducks twisting in the wind for dishonest political reasons. Cheney-Bush are the grossest ripoff artists and liars who have ever been in charge of things. Why does anyone in the country trust them as far as they can throw them? It's very disturbing. Just party loyalty I suppose, but what has happened to our great country? Massive brainwashing or something? Who cares about parties, these stinkers have deserved impeachment several times over by now. Some of them belong in prison. Kerry has very smart plans on every issue. Do you refuse to go to johnkerry.com and read them? Which issue are you confused about? You really have to stop listening to the rightwing press. They LIE constantly. They are very dishonest. Actually, you would learn more by assuming that the OPPOSITE of what they say is true. The international community will celebrate once Cheney is out of power and rally around us to help us pacify Iraq. That includes crucial allies like Turkey, Spain, Jordan, Canada, Russia, France, Germany, China plus many more who simply could not trust the Cheney-Bush regime. This alone will save tax-payers about 50 billion a year and bring tens of thousands of our guys home where they belong. The curernt Cheney-Bush mess in Iraq is hopeless, a quagmire compounded by arrogant and inept mis-management and gross corruption. If Cheney-Bush are re-elected, it will get so bad that even conservatives will start missing Saddam Hussein. The jig is up in Iraq. Time for new leadership. Just like with a failing corporation, a new CEO and strategy can turn things around quickly. Why are you attacking the candidate's wife? Why do rightwingers always attack the wives? Also, why do you jerks always attack our war heros? Finally, why do you always try to evade issues and change the subject to stupid personal attacks? Are you that aware that you will lose any factual debate?
