Well thanks a lot for "showing" me "where to be", LOL. The problem is not NOT knowing where to be. It is ACCESS.

For starters - tribunes are for tourists. Nobody in his right mind will stay planted under the sun for HOURS (no exit, you know) and bake under the sun in one of those.

So that leaves balconies, hotels' terraces, yachts, and restaurants.

Balconies - Best done by inviting yourself to the house of a friend with a view over the circuit (which we did last year), usually with promises of an immense amount of alcohol and food supplied. Advantages: (1) Free (2) Sit down, get up, watch on TV, watch on balcony, move as you please.

Hotels' terraces - Nice and chic, but very expensive and crowded. We asked Hotel Hermitage, which has a nice view of the port, and for a day of food, booze, and GP, you pay something like EUR 700 per person.

Restaurants - Expensive and crowded and not even nice and chic. La Rascasse (now called "Cafe Grand Prix") asks for EUR 2,000 per person for three days, I heard.

Yachts - Good ambiance, and possibility of panoramic view of the circuit from the port. Problems: (1) Too much sun and not enough shade (2) Sitting at level with the circuit, all you see is the colors of the cars flashing from within the iron railings along the circuit. Some of our friends have a yacht on the port, but we are not sure we want to watch it from there.

So, start praying that we find a balcony :-)
