I don't understand the dire forecasts you are making. Here is a chart showing gold in terms of the S&P 500 over the past year. Although the chart shows volatility, the "trend" is pretty flat. Both gold and industry will always have investment value, I'm not so sure about cash. To take advantage of the volatility displayed on the chart perhaps selling some spoos to buy gold stocks might be a good idea. Aren't you supposed to sell high and buy low ?
