And what was Bush doing in 1972? Going AWOL, lying, dodging danger, getting high, drinking excessively, knocking up girls, making them get abortions, probably getting arrested for cocaine (hushed up by the family) and basically being an irresponsible young guy.
Kerry was a major war hero who earned the right to criticize the war. He had 20+ enemy kills, won the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and suffered three wounds. He saved lives, led his crew mates and earned the respect of men from every walk of life he served with. He could have avoided the war and partied like GW, but he didn't. Even to this day Bush lies about 1972. There are $15,000 in rewards available to anyone who can prove GW ever reported for duty in Alabama. no far, after 3+ years, nobody has claimed the easy money. Don't you see, when you debate Vietnam, you lose. A hero versus a coward. Simple as that. And no, Kerry was not a radical nor an anarchist. He was a patriot who expereinced the war first-hand, knew it was based on a lie, knew thousands of people were dying needlessly and wanted to end it ASAP. Nixon wanted to destroy him, but the war destroyed Nixon, McNamara, Johnson instead. In the end, liars and dishonest leaders get their comeuppance. Kerry was right and deserves our respect, though he's admitted some of his language way back in 1971 was immature and hurtful to some. |
