I don't mean to over-simplify the issue, but it's my opinion that the US Military needs to construct several huge - but very nice - tent-cities out in the desert - with large trench-berms all the way around them. I.e.: no one in - no one out, without permission and the addition of an RF-scannable arm/ankle (their choice) bracelet.

The RF-bracelets must be worn at all times, from then on, until 2010. No batteries included ("..a tickless Timex.."), the passive bracelets can be read by a hand-scanners carried by Iraqi cops/military and our guys.

We need to take a city like Najaf and empty the SOB (..or major sectors of it..) to the last rat, sending all, and I mean all, the inhabitant to the camps while the Troops go house to house and yard to yard collecting everything that rates higher than a yo-yo or BB gun on the wacko-raghead scale.

Then, after thoroughly ID'g every one in the camps, return them to the city 1000 at a time with the unmistakeable edict that "..if you take off or alter your ID bracelet - you go to Guantanamo for several years - on the very next jet.."!!!

In the meantime, the people can all be examined for health and vision needs - and treated for what ever ails them. Meanwhile they can be provided "..3-squares a day..", all the clean bottled water they can drink, schooling, books and some new clothes for the kids (and all others interested), and given some low-effort excercise to keep their minds occupied. For most of them, it would be a "..Coalition-paid Vacation.." and probably the best few weeks of their previously miserable lives. No harm - no foul, everybody gets two weeks+/- FREE at Camp Kuckamonga 1, 2, 3, or 4 - East.

The end result would be cities where, if you don't have an RF-bracelet - you don't enter the town. Or, you go straight to jail until you're processed and you get one. Eventually, we would know who all the Iraqi's are - and the insurgents would stick out like a sore thumb. It wouid also provide the basis for an Iraqi census, from which the new government could move forward.

In 2010, or whenever the successful Iraqi government decides everything is copacetic, everyone can turn in their RF-bracelet for a FREE Mickey-D's gift booklet and a Madonna CD.

Sure as hell works for me....!!!

John :-)
