Thing is if you go to 3rd/2nd world nations like Thailand or say the Philippines you find the people there don't have social security or Medicare. Rough, rough place to grow up and live. Life is really tough and completely harsh.

In the US the Republican mantra is get rid of social programs like social security and Medicare because the rich can afford to support themselves and they don't want to pay taxes and share with anyone else.

But really, getting rid of social programs would put the US in the same boat as most third world nations. How is that progress except that the rich get to pay less tax? Not to mention that there are the weak in our society that can't support themselves. Putting the weak on the street doesn't make the USA a better country.
