My sister sent me this and I thought since it's the weekend, perhaps some of you animal lovers might want to sign this:
To: Office of the Ocean County Prosecutor Attn:The Honorable Thomas Kelaher, Ocean County Prosecutor
Dear Prosecutor Kelaher:
An individual named Ronald Fredericks of Seaside Heights, NJ was recently arrested and charged with eight counts of Animal Cruelty for his heinous mutilation of two puppies at his home. This individual deliberately doused his two puppies with WD-40 motor oil and proceeded to light a match. The puppies' ears were practically burned off. He also failed to allow the dogs to seek medical care and made them suffer in pain, for almost two weeks before a good samaritan thankfully turned him into authorities. He claims that his actions were unintentional, but pouring this highly flammable substance onto the dogs and then setting them on fire, is far from an accident or mistake.
Please do not allow this person to hide behind this "accidental" defense. We beg that you prosecute this defendant to the fullest extent that the law allows for his horrific crimes. As you aware, severe forms of animal cruelty, such as the torture of an animal, is a crime punishable by fines, but more importantly punishable by prison time.
We, the undersigned, urge you to insist on the maximum amount of imprisonment for this defendant rather than a "slap on the wrist." It is in our opinion that violence towards animals paves the way for individuals like this to think that life, in general, is unimportant. An individual who so cruelly harms an innocent animal, may believe that harming a human is acceptable, as well.
These puppies could not defend themselves against this cowardly man, nor can they now seek their own justice. We cannot allow crimes toward animals to go unpunished. Please do all in your power to ensure that Fredericks is prosecuted and sentenced, to the maximum terms allowed by law, so that he may not do this to another animal in the future.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
