I think that we all are forgetting that the Palestinian/ Israeli conflict is what fueled this whole situation initially. If we had solved only a small fraction of that conflict we would be at least 50% of the way toward establishing ourselves as a credible and honest peace broker. This would assist us in a continued progress toward resolution in Palestine and would remove some of the fuel used by Arabs to ignite more fires.

During the CLinton years we fought with NATO to defend Moslems in Bosnia and or Kosovo...........we should exploit that good will with Arabs but politics make that impossible right now. Bush and Cheney are too arrogant to give Bill CLinton any credit. The Democrats might not want to give the GOP any credit also but right now we need exemplary leaders to step forward who can put politics behind them. We know that Bush will/ is playing some very dirty political games right now and it's not helping any of us.

We need statesmen/women who have contacts and partnerships on both sides.......Kerry does have that. His many years in the Senate will prove invaluable as far as statesmanship is concerned.

Afghanistan was certainly botched. I didn't support that war 100% because I am not in favor of violence but I have to say that the case for military action there was ironclad and hardly anyone could dispute it.We should have finished the job instead of diverting our funds and resources to the Iraq theater. Now we have two fronts and Bin Ladin has had two years to rebuild and recruit. The world was behind us and we could have totally removed Al Qaeda from Afghanistan. That message would have been powerful with our allies at our side. It would have been a good start. We missed that good start and are backfiring in Iraq.

Clarke believes that AL Qaeda has morphed into a multi-headed beast that is five times more powerful than before. He is more knowledgeable than you or I. I am inclined to believe him . It's not a good situation. There are nukes from the old Soviet Union that are somewhere out there. The funding was stopped by this administration that was spearheaded to guard the WMD's that were loosely discarded in that country.

It's certainly impossible to say exactly what Kerry would do and how successful he would be. But, with Kerry we could probably create a better chance at a bi-partisan discussion and a joint effort of taking a few baby steps toward resolving these problems...........instead of creating additional hatred as we "throw another log on the fire" with the Bush team of Neocons. If you read some of the PNAC documents you will become aware that another agenda is lurking even beyond what we have seen in Iraq.

Bush seems to be taking us in the wrong direction and making enemies of our former allies. We need a fresh direction and our allies need fresh trust in us and our leadership.

As far as 9/11 is concerned there is enough blame to go around to both parties and multiple figures who dropped the ball...........Many people share in the blame.

Right now we have an arrogant administration that won't even admit it did one thing wrong. They also won't allow anyone to say anything negative about them without mounting a personal campaign against them...even if they trusted that person explicitly. When this type of loyalty is required, no one dares to stand up and offer a diverse opinion among their ranks. If the leader of the pack is wrong then all the sheep that are following him will politely follow down the wrong path. This is a dysfunctional process that will likely lead to disaster. We must have men leading our country who understand humility and can tolerate others with a diverse opinion. We need all angles argued and we need leaders who can multi-task with brilliance. We can't afford anything less. The bar needs to be elevated high off the ground and our leaders need to be up at the top of the bar.

I am not 100% sure Kerry will be that man who can put us back on the right track but I am 100% sure George Bush is not. We need a change.
