That's an excellent article, but I'm afraid that it doesn't go far enough. Our constitutional republic has withered away to such an extent that in most instances, the concept is no longer applicable. And Republicans are almost as much to blame as the Dems for this. And public education has applied the coup de grace.

Limited constitutional government in the US has been replaced by mob rule. Whichever gang of the moment happens to be in control proceeds to pass laws, taxes and regulations as they see fit. The constitutional constraint that the founders imposed on government has become ancient (and ignored) history. And most people either don't know or don't care. We have become a democracy, unfortunately...
