It's pretty obvious that Both Sharon and Arafat were terrorists. There is a difference though. Arafat is weary of the conflict and willing to try to decelerate the cycle of revenge. Arafat knows he cannot defeat Israel. They have A-bombs for gods sake! Sharon wants the cycle to continue because it strengthens his political power. Sharon obviously desperately believes Israel should eject the Palestinians from the west bank. (Even GW can't swallow that yet.) Sharon believes that overwhelming force is the only way Israel can survive. Imagine if France and England treated the Germans that way. They did after WWI and it succeeded in breeding a generation which listened to extremists instead of moderates. They did not after WWII and we now have a two generations of moderates and a sane Germany. Duh! It's pretty obvious that foul treatment of the Palestinians and Middle Easterners in general is breeding a generation of extremists now. What a waste.
