if I lived in Monaco, I would make sure such access would be a given year in and out...
And I am sure you would. Probably watching the race from inside one of the pit stops :-)
I, on the other hand, need food and drinks and the possibility of shade while watching the race (it goes on for a long time, you know), not the mention a TV screen from where I can follow what is going on elsewhere and hear the commentaries :-)
Last year was fantastic. A friend had an apartment overlooking the port, and looking straight towards the start line, near and up above St Devote. We had the complete view of the port and the road going up towards the casino. We were on the balcony AND had the TV right inside. We could open the shade so we didn't sizzle to a crisp (like the tourists on the tribunes), and we had loads of stuff to eat and drink (which led to us drinking impressive amounts of wine and assorted spirits from about 10AM onwards). It was heaven.
But this year, in preparation for his girlfriend moving in with him with her two kids (don't ask!), our friend with the wonderful GP balcony has moved to a larger place. Without any view. Argh.
...but if yo get the right table, you are feet away from the cars whizzing by ...
I did that once. The insides of my ears hurt (even with protection) and all I saw was a blur of a color passing by. You really need to be up above the circuit to see what is going on, not to mention to have a bit of a conversation :-)
I have no doubt you will make the necessary arrangements for your enjoyable participation in this major event
We are thinking of Hotel Hermitage or Hotel de Paris now. Both will be very expensive, but hey, Monte-Carlo GP is only once a year :-)
although I have to say... the constant partying could get a tad .... tiring? after a while.... if not outright boring... ? I
Well, my changing....ahh... "social circumstances" have significantly reduced the frequency of the said "constant partying". Can't say I have been partying much at all since New Year's Eve. GP will no doubt be a good opportunity :-) |
